Question by Brendan: Does anybody know if the fishing lure "bite light" actually works?
Its been banned in one state and has been said to outfish many anglers favorite baits, but does it actually work?

That sounds like nothing more than a sales pitch to me. There's one particular article which is printed when a new so called "revolutionary" bait comes out that states what you said in your question. It says something along the lines of, "the bait produces so well that it has been banned from tournament use and in "blank" state and outfishes live bait 7 to one". Something close to that anyways. Regardless, it's a sales pitch. I'm not sure how it's not considered false advertising or something similiar, assuming this is where you seen this. I've seen the same exact article for the Banjo Minnow system, Walking Worms, and several other infomercial type lures.

To answer you're question, I honestly don't know. Common sense tells me probably not. It may produce a few more hits in murky water or when fishing at night but not many. Fish see incredibly well in all water conditions compared to humans for example. Just because it is dark outside or the water is murky doesn't at all mean a fish can't see a normal lure. Yes, their vision would be decreased but they're not "blind" by any means. You would be better off throwing a noisier bait in these condtions. You can throw any rattle equipped lure or top water lure and catch just as many Bass as you would durring ideal conditions.

Fishing in Canada

image thumb1 Fishing in CanadaIf you would like to experience real adventure in fishing, then Canada is the perfect location for you. Canada has a wide area of rivers, ponds, freshwater lakes, saltwater and streams. Freshwater and saltwater fishing are the favorite pastimes of Canadians and tourists. Fish in Canada including wildlife are very abundant. Canada offers a lot of first-class fishing trips that will make the most out of your time and money. There would not be any reason that you might be disappointed.

Canada has the ideal water where the fish are abundant. There are also plenty of shops and establishments that sell fishing gear and tools for fishing. Fishing in Canada is divided in two groups. That is the Lake Water Fishing and the Salt Water Fishing. The two groups are totally different especially in Canada.

The most famous fishing in Canada is the Salmon Fishing, which is enjoying and rewarding.  Salmon varieties that are abundant in Canada are the Coho, Sockeye Salmon, Chinook and the chum. Salmon are known for their size and beauty. Many fishing guides in Canada specialize in the adventure of Salmon Fishing.

Saltwater fishing is popular in the 3 coasts of Canada. They are the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans. This is a chance for shark and tuna fishing. A lot of big saltwater fish are caught only on deep seas and that is what the 3 coasts offer.

Canada is also known for fly fishing. Fly fishing, which is an older type of sport fishing, is about catching a fish using an artificial lure called a "fly.”  Many resorts and establishments in Canada offer great packages on fly fishing.

Ice Fishing is also an option for you if you would like to experience fishing in Canada. There are also ice fishing guides that could assist you in your trip. They will ensure your safety and enjoyable experience in Canada. Ice fishing requires special gear, outfits and techniques that require the help of a skilled ice fishing guide. Many tourists who come to Canada for ice fishing can rent ice huts to keep them warm and away from wind.

For tourists who would like to experience ice fishing in Canada, it is always recommended that you come along with fishing guides that are specialized on each fishing type. It is also advised to bring a compass, cell phones and flashlights as safety device and for emergency purposes.

It does not necessarily have to be that the individual must purchase all the latest gear to enjoy this sport. On the contrary, some people still have poles that were handed down to them from previous generations. However, by getting a pole that has modern materials, the angler can try out something new every now and then and see if he can become more successful at catching something wonderful.

The carbon fiber poles, for example, are much stronger and flexible than the older wooden poles which did not have so much give in them. The new poles allow for a much wider arc and this will surely help those who have managed to hook a big catch. Even power assisted winding mechanisms can help those with weak hands and wrists so it is wise not to eliminate this new equipment without first trying it out.

Although angling has always been considered a manly sport, many more women are taking it up these days and this also gives them the opportunity to go along with the husband when he wants to spend some time on the water. This can be on the river but it can also be on the ocean too.

Deep sea angling is so popular these days that even those who travel abroad will always try to get some angling in at one point or another. Catching a shark or tuna is great for those who have never had the opportunity before and the whole event is made memorable by catching something huge. Indeed, this is where great photo opportunities abound and many keen anglers will have several large catches in photographic form for sure.

Any novice who is keen to understand the art of angling will need some 'how to' books or a DVD or two. These not only tell him why he has to use a particular lure, it also demonstrates the throw that is needed to entice the specimen onto the hook. It will also list the types of tools and equipment that he needs as a basic collection to get him started in the game.

Indeed, if this is a complete novice, then he really needs to buy a few 'bundles' of equipment, on offer at most online stores, to save a few dollars while he is concentrating on the art itself. In this way, he can figure out if the sport is really for him or not.

cache:fu_IvJh9dSYJ:ezinearticles.com/?10-Signs-You-Need-New-Fishing-Tackle&id=4021317 - Google Search5 Reasons You Need a New Fishing Rod

If you're a keen angler, then you may already know how you can benefit from having several fishing rods.

1. Different types of fishing require different types of rods. There are dedicated fishing rods for catching trout and salmon, whilst fishing at sea, and for those wanting to catch bigger fish. Perhaps your style of fishing has changed. Maybe you've moved house and are now nearer the sea, or a river. Your old fishing tackle may now not be the most suitable or appropriate for your new type of fishing.

2. Rivers, lakes, and streams all present different terrains and different sorts of fish. Having the right sort of fishing rod for the right conditions will help you to be prepared and give you a better chance of catching more fish. If you're fishing rivers, you may be standing in the river for a long time whilst trying to catch fish. Having a lightweight rod can make a difference. Maybe you're going to be sat on the bank all day, so a heavier rod might be more suitable.

3. If you fish all year round, you may prefer a different rod at different times of year. You might need a holiday rod, or one that you can let the children use. Some people also like to have a longer rod when fishing in higher water, as they find it easier to control. This is especially important when you consider you could be in the water for several hours.

4. Perhaps you just want to keep up with new technology, and advances in rod technology. There are many recent advances in fishing rod technology, and in other areas of fishing tackle. Perhaps you fish a lot and get a lot of use out of your fishing tackle. Maybe you do genuinely need new fishing equipment, and a new fishing rod is high on your list.

5. If you're a lapsed angler, and haven't been fishing for ages, perhaps some new fishing tackle will inspire you again. Maybe you've only just started fishing, and have been used a friend's old rod until you decided that you needed to buy your own fishing tackle. Maybe you're old fishing tackle has been stored at the back of the garage for years, and is past its best.

Having different fishing rods makes sense. Having the right equipment for the right situations is likely to make you enjoy fishing more, and get better at it. You're bound to lose enthusiasm if your equipment is old and has seen better days. Why not see what your local fishing shop has to offer?

SEA ANGLING IN ORKNEY 1968 Part 1

Part 2 can be viewed at: www.youtube.com Shot on 16mm film in Orkney in June and November 1968, SEA ANGLING IN ORKNEY was my first joint venture into producing angling programmes with my dear friend and fishing companion, Michael Prichard ARPS. The programme features the legendary sea angling and beach-casting guru, Leslie Moncrieff. BA was BEA in those days - and I was a youthful 25 years old. This is part one of that quest in the beautiful islands of Orkney just a few miles across the Pentland Firth from the Scottish mainland. It features the rugged coastline of the Island of Hoy and some excellent sport with haddock, cod and ling. The common skate and halibut come later, in parts 2 and 3. Enjoy. I dedicate this short clip to Mike Prichard and Les Moncrieff who are sadly no longer with us. Happy memories Mike Shepley
