We took the kids on the Blue Heron Fleet Drift Boat Deep Sea Fishing outing and everyone got to catch a Fish. We caught mostly Bonita fish which are no good to eat but great fun to catch! Most of them never made it into the boat because we were surrounded by Lemon Sharks that would eat them just before you could bring them into the boat.
just bought a new rod after many years away from fishing. I am having trouble casting any real distance with it when float fishing. can cast fine with a feeder good direction and distance etc. i know my reel needs a little more line but is the problem or is the rod pants ?
I never catch much when the sea is flat and calm with no colour, but also when the sea is really rough, windy and weedy. Ideal conditions seem to be somewhere in between.
Does anyone know the factors that make the fish bite?
An old adage is when it blows form the west they bite the best......when it blows from the east they bite the least. When i'm fishing i like bad weather but no lightning of course. I always tell my buddies i have to have the chop on the water to fish. They are less spooky then when it's flat. I keep an eye on the moon phases also. It does make a difference. Also fish when a front is coming in and the barometer is dropping.
i assume you mean grouper well the best thing to catch them on is a trolled lure on the back of a slow moving boat anything long and bright in color should do it fished in a team with other lures of a similar nature
